Muzej-Museo Lapidarium, Novigrad-Cittanova

The book was created in connection with the exhibition of the same title at Muzej-Museo Lapidarium, dedicated to the archaeological heritage of Novigrad-Cittanova and its surrounding area. Through an overview of archaeological material, sites and research, the publication brings together traces of the long history of this space – from prehistory, through ancient and late antique layers, to the early and late medieval period. Special attention is given to finds and sites in the area of Novigrad-Cittanova and nearby settlements, including Dajla, Bužinija and Antenal, as well as to the history of research that has shaped today’s understanding of the archaeological landscape of Novigrad-Cittanova.
The publication offers a systematic insight into material that bears witness to the continuity of life, spatial transformations and the cultural layers of the city. With the presentation of this book, Muzej-Museo Lapidarium continues its work in researching, interpreting and making local archaeological heritage accessible to the public, bringing together the museum collection, field research, documentation and scholarly interpretation into a publication intended for both professional and wider audiences.

The book will be presented by Anika Mijanović Simić, editor of the catalogue, and Kristina Gergeta Sotončić, collaborator on the publication.
This year, Muzej-Museo Lapidarium is taking part for the first time in the European Archaeology Days, an international event that brings archaeology closer to the wider public through exhibitions, lectures, workshops, publication presentations, guided tours and other programmes. As part of the European Archaeology Days, admission to Muzej-Museo Lapidarium is free.
