On Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 12 noon at the Lapidarium Museum

The book will be presented by Jerica Ziherl and Vladimir Torbica, as well as the authors of the contributions.

This book, published on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Rigo Gallery, presents a chronology of its exhibition and programme activities, archival material, and many rear photos. As in addition to an overview of the gallery’s timeline it includes texts by Jerica Ziherl, Goran Trbuljak, Vlasta Delimar, Zvonko Maković, Francesca Zattoni, Ivica Župan, Ingeborg Fülepp, Ketrin Miličević Mijošek, Dragana Sapanjoš, Ursula Krinzinger, Đanino Božić, Markus Hanakam and Roswitha Schuller. Actually, the artists and the curators who have, on multiple occasions, exhibited, taken part in preparations, or led some of the Rigo Gallery’s programmes. If we add to that a distinctive literary essay by Tatjana Gromača Vadanjel, we gain a broader context for understanding how a physical space was transformed and semantically shaped into a symbolic place. Therefore, this book is not built around a static gallery narrative but, by acknowledging the diverse experiences and perceptions of the same space, it represents a kind of cultural embassy which, in a small town without urban scenography, promotes the heterogeneous languages of contemporary art.

Despite its modest size and lack of standard conditions, the Rigo Gallery has, over the past thirty years, gradually built its reputation and established itself as one of the most relevant exhibition spaces in Croatia. And that space has been equally open to and shared with both the art world and the local community.

And so we present to you this “small” gallery which, despite being only thirty years old, already has its protagonists, its history, its archive and its collection – and, finally, this very book, now in your hands.
