Muzej – Museo Lapidarium is pleased to invite you to the opening of Oleg Morović’s exhibition Rendezvous, Declining Ruins and Captain Godot, which will take place on Friday, 8 May 2026, at 8 pm at Rigo Gallery.
The exhibition explores spaces of anticipation, decay and creative joy through painting, poetry, and the broader artistic and social practice of Oleg Morović. Within the exhibition, vivid colours and tired motifs, humour and anxiety, tenderness and self-irony come together to create a visual and poetic environment in which everyday life, inner unrest, romantic encounters and the absurdity of existence emerge as sites of personal and collective reflection.
Morović’s practice encompasses painting, poetry, screen printing, DIY/DIWO publishing, and community engagement, while the exhibition draws thematically on figures of waiting, semi-disintegration, and the search for meaning, closeness and resistance. At its core are three intertwined themes: meaninglessness and anticipation, the feeling of decay, and the joy of creation. The artist’s process is grounded in transforming negative energy into a space of image, text and encounter.
Oleg Morović was born in 1987 in Pula, where he graduated from the School of Applied Arts and Design. He works as an artist, designer and cultural organiser. He is the head of the association Prostor urbane kulture in Fažana, co-leads the artistic organisation Fazan, and is one of the initiators of several cultural and publishing initiatives, including Fanzinoteka, the portal nakonjusmo.net, and the poetry magazine Polet. He is also one of the founders of Vladimir Film Festival, Vodnjan Film Festival in Fažana, and the ’90Films collective. He has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad, and lives and works in Fažana.
The exhibition and the accompanying publication were realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, the Istrian County – Department for Culture, the City of Novigrad-Cittanova, and the Tourist Board of the City of Novigrad-Cittanova.
