Austrian artist Gundi Dietz presents her first solo exhibition in Croatia. The exhibition, initiated by CBProductions  (Cornelius Baltus), offers a profound encounter with her sculptures.

At the heart of Dietz’s art is fragility—of the material and of the human condition. Her predominantly female figures, suspended between motion and stillness, evoke myth, presence, and transformation. Scarabs appear as symbols of renewal. With technical mastery and poetic sensitivity, Dietz explores the limits of porcelain, inviting us into a silent, powerful dialogue.

These porcelain female figures do not follow the ideals of classical beauty; they have rounded bodies, disproportionate features, and enigmatic smiles. Yet they are free from kitsch and sentimentality, as the artist creates ‘against attractiveness.’ In her work, the beautiful and the ugly, the repulsive and the attractive, are inseparably intertwined, reminding us that every being carries both wounds and dignity.

Gundi Dietz has exhibited worldwide and is the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for her unique porcelain design. As a quiet gesture beyond the exhibition walls, Sleeping Elephant—a donation by the artist—has been accepted by the City of Novigrad-Cittanova  and can now be seen at the Rivarela Boulevard. Worldwide, August 12th is celebrated as World Elephant Day.
The exhibition will remain open until September 14, 2025.
